Shaker Village Harvest Festival

My family and I had an excellent time hanging out at the Shaker Village Harvest Festival in Harrodsburg a few weekends ago. I have always felt an intense connection to the Shakers, perhaps because their communities were so agricultural. Enjoy some pictures from the day and make it a point to visit soon. One of my favorite events is coming up on 11/24—the Blessing of the Hounds, so you might want to mark your calendar!

Some dear friends operating the horse-powered sorghum mill. Much love to the Pond family!

Bees from Hosey Honey

It might look like I purposely stalk Sweetgrass Granola for all of my posts… I’m honestly starting to wonder myself.

The stalking is worth it to sample new, unique flavors of granola like Peanut Butter & Apple! (Delicious… my kids nearly finished the bag before we got off the property!)

The Shaker herb garden

Spotted in the gift shop: a book I love by my dear friend Catherine Pond… the Pantry—Its History and Modern Uses!

Pumpkin Bread from Pelley’s Farm Fresh Market (I wrote about them in a very early post on reimagining dairies)
